In its current meeting, the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund of MBB, MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Istanbul Film Festival - Meetings on the Bridge is awarding almost 30,000 euros for the development of four new German-Turkish film projects.

Around 1.7 million euros were awarded to 31 projects by the Director's Cut Committee of the MOIN Film Fund at its current meeting - including the new film "Ficken für Freiheit" by Hille Norden from Schleswig-Holstein and the drama "5 Tage" by "Peterchens Mondfahrt" Director Ali Samadi Ahadi.

The Kurz + Innovativ Committee of the MOIN Film Fund awarded around 110,000 euros to four projects at its latest meeting. These include the short film "Lebensschulden" by Hamburg filmmaker Lena Hetzel about life in a youth detention centre and the VR experience "Golems" by Deborah and Dennis Reinmüller from Kiel.

The Hanseatic city in cinema mode: the Filmfest Hamburg is taking place this year until 7 October - and has 17 productions with northern German participation on board. These include two series highlights with Heinz Strunk and Fahri Yardim as well as the German premieres of "King's Land" with Mads Mikkelsen and "The Lesson" with Julie Delpy and Richard E. Grant - the thriller was filmed entirely in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. MOIN will also be on site with several events as part of the Industry Days.

Berlinale premiere, film award winner and now German Oscar candidate: the film "The Teachers' Lounge", shot in Hamburg, is in the running for the foreign Oscar.

The 80th Venice International Film Festival kicks off at the end of August - and MOIN Film Fund will be there with six projects. These include the historical drama "King's Land" with Mads Mikkelsen in the international competition and the film "Yurt", produced by Red Balloon from Hamburg, in the Orizzonti competition section. Germany is this year's focus country at the film festival.

Positive results from the first GetOnSet year: around 85 per cent of the film trainees found their way into the film world through the programme - and there were more than 150 applications for the second GetOnSet round. The success of the Hamburg Media School and MOIN Film Fund initiative underlines the importance of promoting young talent in the film industry.

In Schleswig-Holstein's oldest cinema, the KinoCenter in Rendsburg, State Secretary for Culture Guido Wendt presented the state's cinema award today (21 June) and paid tribute to the state's cinema culture:

Three short, two immersive: At its current meeting, the "Kurz + Innovativ" Committee of the MOIN Film Fund supported five projects with around 140,000 euros. These include the animated film "Butterfly Kiss" from the Hamburg-based animation studio "Fabian&Fred" and the 270-degree experience "InHuman - A New World" about the creation and destruction of the rainforest.

The Hamburg Media School, MOIN Film Fund and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg are jointly continuing the GetOnSet film trainee programme. Following the successful launch of the pilot project in 2022, the practical programme has proven to be an effective building block against the shortage of skilled workers in the film and series industry.

In its current meeting, the Director's Cut Committee of the MOIN Film Fund awarded more than 2.8 million euros to 27 projects - including the series "Schwarze Früchte" by showrunner and actor Lamin Leroy Gibba and the drama "Der Optimismus" by Hamburg filmmaker Steffen Goldkamp - both projects will be produced entirely in the funding region in the summer of 2023.

Two MOIN-funded films will be represented at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival this year: Turkish Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "About Dry Grasses" has made it into the official competition, while Faouzi Bensaïdi's film "Déserts" is screening in the "Quinzaine des Cinéastes" section. Also taking part: up-and-coming Hamburg actress Pauline Pollmann and Kiel-based short filmmaker Eugenia Bakurin.

Malika Rabahallah will take over the management of FILMFEST HAMBURG from 1 January 2024. The Executive Producer and long-time head of the funding department of MOIN Film Fund will succeed Albert Wiederspiel, who will leave FILMFEST at the end of 2023 after twenty successful years as festival director.

On 21 April, four productions with North German participation will be awarded the Grimme Prize: "Atomkraft Forever" by Hamburg filmmaker Carsten Rau, "The Other Side of the River" by Hamburg production company Doppelplusultra, the arthouse horror film "Schlaf" produced by Junafilm from Hamburg, and "Im Feuer - Zwei Schwestern" by Director and Script Writer Daphné Charizani.

In its first meeting of the year, the High End Committee of the MOIN Film Fund has supported four projects with around 950,000 euros - including the new animation adventure "Seeräubermoses" by Hamburg-based Ulysses Films ("The Amazing Maurice"). In addition, the Nordbuster Committee is awarding more than 850,000 euros to Wüste Film for the tragicomedy "Drift" by Director Florian Dietrich, who will shoot his new film almost entirely in Hamburg following his surprise success "Toubab".

On the first Saturday of the Berlinale (18 February), the Hamburg film industry met for Tea Time at the Hamburg State Representation on the Spree. Directors Fatih Akin and "Rheingold" lead actor Emilio Sakraya as well as the "Mittagsstunde" team Charly Hübner and Lars Jessen were among those in attendance.

How diverse is the German film industry really? Despite important studies and surveys, there are gaps in the available data. The MOIN Film Fund wants to change this and is therefore cooperating with the Australian "The Everyone Project" with immediate effect. A pilot of the new "OMNI Inclusion" platform is to be launched across Germany in 2023 with the help of industry representatives.

When the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival takes place this year from 16-26 February, eight MOIN-funded productions will be screened in the capital - six of them as world premieres. They include "The Measures of Men" by Lars Kraume, Ayşe Polat's "In the Blind Spot" and the drama "The Teachers' Lounge" by İlker Çatak, which was shot in Hamburg.

The Hamburg-based production company Ulysses Films will be showing its animated film "The Amazing Maurice the Cat" at the renowned Sundance Film Festival in the USA from 19 January. The Terry Pratchett adaptation will be one of only three films to be shown in the children's section. Bastian Pastewka lends his voice to the orange-coloured street cat in the German version - cinema release is 9 February 2023.

From February 2023, Nicola Jones will take over as head of the Schleswig-Holstein location of MOIN Film Fund. The former CEO of the German Children's Media Festival "Goldener Spatz" will succeed Arne Sommer, who has successfully managed the Filmwerkstatt since 2014 and has left the company at his own request.

The twelfth Schleswig-Holstein Cinema Prize was awarded at the Astra-Filmtheater Plön on Tuesday evening.

Three reasons for series fans to rejoice: Fahri Yardim and Henriette Confurius are filming a new thriller series in the north. The first two Filmfest Hamburg series will premiere at the Filmfest Hamburg - and the film funding can also bring exciting series to the Hanseatic city in the future, as Senator for Culture Dr Carsten Brosda announced on the set of "Die Quellen des Bösen" by Hamburg production company Wüste Medien.

A total of seven MOIN-funded films will be screened at this year's Toronto International Film Festival from 8 to 18 September. In addition to the premieres of the two international co-productions "War Sailor" and "Snow and the Bear", the North German short film "Beben" has also made it into the programme.

The Venice International Film Festival begins on 31 August and a large part of the programme has now been announced. Included: the drama "Victim" with Hamburg leading actress Vita Smachelyuk in the Orizzonti section as well as the film "Aus meiner Haut" with Jonas Dassler and Mala Emde, which was shot entirely in Schleswig-Holstein and will be shown in the "International Film Critics' Week".

In its June edition, the Director's Cut Committee of the MOIN Film Fund supported 14 projects with around 800,000 euros - including a drama about an exiled author on a North Sea island and a documentary about the Hamburg jack-of-all-trades Dietrich Kuhlbrodt.

A celebration on the longest day of the year: MOIN Film Fund celebrated its annual industry get-together at Kampnagel on Tuesday evening with around 1000 guests from film and TV, culture and politics. Among the guests were Otto Waalkes, Jonas Nay, Pheline Roggan, Charly Hübner and the cult band Scooter.

The practical, 12-month trainee programme "GetOnSet" is designed to prepare career changers for professions such as unit manager, Sound Assistants or assistant directors.

"Pacifiction - Tourment sur les Îles" is another film with Hamburg participation in the Cannes competition. Executive Producer of the film: the Hamburg company Tamtam Film ("Some had crocodiles"). In the "Un Certain Regard" section, the new film by Emily Atef ("3 Days in Quiberon") can also celebrate its world premiere.

A portrait of the Hamburg cult band Tocotronic and the new film by "Manche hatten Krokodile"-Director Christian Hornung about the Hamburg Sternbrücke: The Director's Cut committee of the MOIN Film Fund has awarded around 1.2 million euros to 29 projects - including ten documentaries that received production funding.

Sustainability has played a central role at MOIN Film Fund for more than ten years. With immediate effect, the company now also fulfils the criteria of the German Sustainability Code, thereby demonstrating its commitment: The requirements for the film industry apply just as much in-house.

Multiple national and regional funding organisations are often involved in the funding of film and series projects in Germany. A standardised review process is now being planned.

In the last High End session of the year, the MOIN Film Fund awarded around 800,000 euros to five projects. These include the psychological thriller "The Tutor", which was shot entirely in Film-Norden, and the animated adventure "Seeräubermoses", based on the novel by Hamburg's honorary citizen Kirsten Boie.

First Locarno, now short film LOLA: On Thursday evening, HFBK graduate Nicolaas Schmidt was honoured with the German Short Film Award for his film "First Time (The Time For All But Sunset - Violet)". The film has already celebrated its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival.

The German-Russian documentary film festival "Territorium Film" celebrates its tenth anniversary edition this Friday. The opening ceremony will take place via livestream in parallel in the plenary hall of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament and at the festival venue in Kaliningrad. Since it was founded in 2011, the film festival can look back on around 90 films screened, 140 film guests and more than 20,000 visitors.

In its third meeting of the year, the "Kurz + Innovativ" Committee of the MOIN Film Fund is supporting five projects with a total of around 100,000 euros - including the new short film by HFBK graduate Leonie Kellein and an immersive journey to the Amazon region.

A total of eleven coveted LOLAS went to the north of Germany at the German Film Awards Distribution on Friday evening - including the LOLA in Gold to the Letterbox production "Ich bin Dein Mensch" and the LOLA in Bronze to the MOIN-funded political satire "Curveball".

From 30 September to 9 October 2021, Filmfest Hamburg invites you to the city's cinemas for the 29th time. The festival selection includes several North German productions that have already impressed at international festivals. These include the recent Locarno winners "No One's with the Calves" by Sabrina Sarabi and "Vengeance is Mine, All Others Pay Cash" by Edwin.

A total of three films supported by the MOIN Film Fund can hope to win a LOLA at the 71st German Film Awards. "Tides" by Tim Fehlbaum leads the field with six nominations. "Curveball - Wir machen die Wahrheit" by Johannes Naber and "A Symphony of Noise" by Enrique Sánchez Lansch also have a chance.

Actress Saskia Rosendahl has won the best actress award in the "Concorso Cineasti del presente" section at the Locarno Film Festival for her leading role in the drama "No One's with the Calves". Executive Producer of the film, which had 16 shooting days in Schleswig-Holstein and two in Hamburg, is the Hamburg-based company Weydemann Bros. The main prize of the evening went to the Indonesian film "Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash", which was co-produced by Fatih Akin's company bombero international.

Is it Christmas already? In its second meeting of 2021, the High End Committee of the MOIN Film Fund awards around 1.5 million euros to 14 projects - including the Hamburg-produced animation adventure "Niko's Arctic Adventure" and a diving thriller that will be shot in the film water tank "Offtec" in Schleswig-Holstein, among others. The Nordbuster Committee is also funding two scripts with 50,000 euros each.

On Thursday, cinemas in Hamburg will finally open their doors again - and the City of Hamburg, together with the Film Fund, is providing the accompanying programme: with an unprecedented free ticket campaign and a doubling of the cinema programme prize funds, the cinemas in the north are to be given an easier start to the cinema summer. This brings the total amount of Hamburg's coronavirus aid to around 1.2 million euros.

From producing in the digital age, the reinvention of public broadcasters to diversity as a business opportunity: the second Explorer Konferenz will take place at the beginning of October, docked to FILMFEST HAMBURG. On 8 October, everything will once again revolve around producing for cinema, streaming & TV. The half-day conference will focus on the challenges and opportunities of the current upheaval in the film industry - partly on three stages in parallel.

Hungarian Berlinale winner Ildikó Enyedi (Golden Bear for "Body and Soul") is in competition at the 74th Cannes International Film Festival with "The Story of my Wife". The European co-production with leading actress Léa Seydoux was filmed in 2019 at historical locations in Hamburg, among others. Also included: Bruno Dumont's "France", which was co-produced by Red Balloon Film from Hamburg - and also stars Léa Seydoux.

Exciting film fare for the start of spring: the Director's Cut Committee of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein has supported a total of 22 projects with more than 1.6 million euros at its latest meeting. The funded projects include an episodic film about a bomb disposal operation in Hamburg's Schanzenviertel neighbourhood and Charly Hübner's feature film debut based on a novel by Tomte frontman Thees Uhlmann.

From a naval remand prison to an underwater puppet theatre: the latest meeting of the Kurz + Innovativ Committee of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein was quite maritime and creative. Three short films and two innovative projects are being supported with a total of 110,000 euros.

A good start to the new year: at its first meeting of 2021, the High End Committee of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded more than two million euros to a total of ten projects. Among them are Fatih Akin's new gangster biopic about the German rapper and label CEO Xatar and Bully Herbig's media satire "1000 Zeilen" starring Elyas M'Barek and Jonas Nay.

Desire to go to the cinema despite the pandemic? The "Eine Stadt sieht einen Film" event organised by Hamburg's arthouse and district cinemas will be launched as an online edition for the first time on the weekend of 27 and 28 February. The Hamburg classic and milieu thriller "Supermarket" by Roland Klick will be available to stream free of charge on these two days - including a digital location tour and other programme highlights.

Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded eleven treatment and idea grants in the course of 2020. These project outlines, which were supported with a total of 64,000 euros, include a genuine neighbourhood story and a cross-platform online series.

Executive Producer is Ann Carolin Renninger (joon film) from Schleswig-Holstein. Another Lola went to HFBK graduate Roxana Reiss and her experimental graduation film "Alturas".

In its tenth session, the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Istanbul Film Festival - Meetings on the Bridge supported three co-productions in development. This year, the decision was made in a virtual meeting instead of at Filmfest Hamburg as is traditionally the case.

In its most recent funding session, the Director's Cut Committee of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded around 900,000 euros to 23 projects, including the drama "Maret" with "Styx" star Susanne Wolff and a documentary about the Syrian ex-professional swimmer Sarah Mardini with Oscar-winning Director of Photography Zamarin Wahdat.

In its second meeting of the year, the High End Committee of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded around 1.6 million euros to ten projects. Among the productions receiving funding are "Over & Out", the new film by Hamburg company Oma Inge Film ("Systemsprenger") and the novel adaptation "Mittagsstunde" by Lars Jessen, which also received further funding from the FFHSH Nordbuster Committee.

The Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, honoured Directors and film producer Lars Jessen with the state's art prize on Wednesday evening.

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg wants to contribute a total of 5.5 million euros to the planned cancellation fund for corona-related filming interruptions in Germany. The FFHSH expressly welcomes this step.

In its second funding session in 2020, the Director's Cut Committee of the FFHSH has funded 31 projects with almost 1.2 million euros. The funded films include an Indian road movie by Hamburg production company Tamtam Film and a culinary voyage of discovery to Albania by Schleswig-Holstein filmmaker Andrea Jeska.

The new FFHSH Committee "Director's Cut" for projects with production costs of less than 3.5 million euros met for the first time at the end of May. In response to the coronavirus-related shooting stops, the focus was on the development of new film material. A total of 18 projects were funded with over 400,000 euros.

The Senate has also decided on further openings in the cultural sector with the new ordinance passed today: Hamburg's cinemas and district cultural centres can reopen to visitors under certain conditions.

On Tuesday evening, Jana Schiedek, State Councillor for Culture and Media, presented the Hamburg Cinema Awards. In a digital "Home Edition", 15 arthouse and district cinemas were honoured for their 2019 programme year. Special prizes were awarded for the first time to the initiatives "A Wall is a Screen", "Flexibles Flimmern" and Schanzenkino 73.

Three films from Hamburg were among the big winners of the 70th German Film Awards: With 8 prizes, Nora Fingscheidt's drama "Systemsprenger" was the big winner at the awards ceremony on Friday evening. Further LOLAs went to "I Was, I Am, I Will Be; by Ilker Çatak and "Lindenberg! Do your thing" by Hermine Huntgeburth.

The Schleswig-Holstein Cinema Prize was distributed online for the first time. "The coronavirus pandemic has prompted us to rewrite the script for the Cinema Prize," said Culture Minister Karin Prien in her message of greeting in the video clip produced by Filmwerkstatt.

A separate cinema emergency aid programme for Hamburg, a tripling of cinema programme prices in Schleswig-Holstein, participation in the nationwide rescue package and a new funding programme for creative professionals in the north of the country: A comprehensive package of measures is intended to support the film and cinema industry in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein quickly and sustainably. The two states will provide an additional 3.7 million euros for this purpose.

In the nominations for the German Film Awards 2020 announced today, a total of 23 nominations went to six FFHSH-funded films. Among the nominees are Nora Fingscheidt's "Systemsprenger", Hermine Huntgeburth's "Lindenberg! Do your thing" and "I Was, I Am, I Will Be" by HMS graduate Ilker Çatak.

A visit to the capital for a cup of tea: on Saturday, around 650 guests from the film scene met for the "Berlinale Tea Time" at the Hamburg State Representation on the Spree. The occasion was the 70th Berlin International Film Festival. Among the guests: Hamburg-based "Curveball"-Executive Producer and actor Fahri Yardim, Lindenberg actor Jan Bülow and "Systemsprenger"-star Helena Zengel.

Hamburg is making an additional 200,000 euros available for cinema funding in the short term for the current financial year. The city is thus laying the foundations for a Hamburg cinema investment programme and is thus participating in the federal government's Future Cinema Programme with co-financing.

In the first meeting of the new year, Committee 2 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded around 500,000 euros to a total of 15 projects, including a real neighbourhood story by HFBK graduate Il Kang and Nicolaas Schmidt's follow-up project to his First Steps winner "Final Stage".

Tailwind for the film north: Warner Bros. Entertainment GmbH, based in Hamburg, is participating in state funding in Germany for the first time and will increase the funding budget of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH) by one million euros per year in future.

A spectacular car chase through the Speicherstadt warehouse district and the Elbphilharmonie concert hall as the headquarters of a shady tech company: the new "3 Angels for Charlie" film is a must-see for Hamburg fans. The team led by Director Elizabeth Banks and leading actress Kristen Stewart spent two weeks filming in the Hanseatic city in 2018.

In the last meeting of the year, Committee 1 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awards around 2.7 million euros to 25 projects. Among them are the animated film "Stichkopf" and a drama by Sabrina Sarabi, which is backed by the "Systemsprenger"-Executive Producers Weydemann Bros.

North German comic pioneers, dodgy bombers and an exciting virtual reality project: In the last funding round of the year, Filmwerkstatt Kiel is awarding 85,000 euros to a total of eleven projects.

On her way to Hollywood: Hamburg-based Director Nora Fingscheidt is shooting her next film with US superstar Sandra Bullock. The Netflix thriller is to be based on the British mini-series "Unforgiven". Fingscheidt's successful feature film debut "Systemsprenger" has so far attracted over 450,000 cinema-goers.

More than 220 guests, 16 Speakers and six hours of a packed programme: the first Explorer Konferenz as part of FILMFEST HAMBURG was an impressive event, as the recently published conference report underlines.

Northern Germany goes Kaliningrad: The non-commercial forum "Territorium Film" opens its doors for the ninth time on Thursday in the cultural centre of the Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea. Filmwerkstatt Kiel is once again represented with several films at the documentary festival.

What will the film industry look like in five years? The future of film production is on the programme of the first "Explorer Konferenz", which the producers' association, Filmfest Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and FILMFEST HAMBURG are anchoring in Hamburg just in time for the start of the festival.

Four reasons to celebrate: At the 44th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival, four FFHSH-funded films will be shown on the big screen, including "Pelikanblut" by Hamburg-based Director Katrin Gebbe and "My Zoe" by French star Julie Delpy.

As reported by Filmfest Hamburg, the Hamburg and Tehran-based Director Mohammad Rasoulof has been sentenced to one year in prison in Iran. Rasoulof was honoured for his drama "A Man of Integrity" at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2017.

At the 37th Filmfest Munich on Friday evening, the "New German Cinema" sponsorship award in the script and acting categories went to the drama "I Was, I Am, I Will" by Hamburg-based Director Ilker Çatak. The award is considered one of the most important prizes for up-and-coming filmmakers in Germany and is endowed with a total of 70,000 euros.

"Salmei, Dalmei, Adomei!" At its summer meeting, Committee 1 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded around 3.3 million euros to 30 projects, including the remake of the British TV magician "Catweazle" - played by Otto Waalkes.

Call for Application: The German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund is once again available this year to promote cooperation between German and Turkish filmmakers at an early stage.

In its first meeting of the year, Committee 1 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded more than 3.3 million euros to 28 projects, including the animated film "The Amazing Maurice" by Directors Toby Genkel and the latest detective adventure of the Peppercorns.

Around 650 guests from the film scene met at the traditional "Hamburg Film Brunch" on Sunday morning at the Hamburg State Representation on the Spree. The occasion was the 69th International Film Festival in Berlin.

In February, the eyes of the film world will be on Berlin: For the 69th time, the international film industry will meet in the capital from 7 to 17 February. The FFHSH is represented with 21 subsidised projects. With Fatih Akin's horror film "The Golden Glove" and Nora Fingscheidt's "Systemsprenger", two subsidised films are screening in competition.

A total of four FFHSH-funded productions have made it into the programme of the 40th Max Ophüls Preis film festival, which takes place in Saarbrücken from 14 to 20 January. They include Ziska Riemann's "Electric Girl" and Marcus Richardt's feature film debut "Goliath96" starring Katja Riemann.

The year is off to a good start: A total of eight FFHSH-funded films have made it onto the shortlist for the 2019 German Film Awards, which will be presented on 23 May 2019. Among others, Fatih Akin's "The Golden Glove", "25 km/h" by Markus Goller and "Rocca - Verändert die Welt" by Katja Benrath can hope to be nominated.

At its last meeting of the year, Committee 1 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded more than 2.7 million euros to 22 projects, including Moritz Bleibtreu's first directorial effort and Elizabeth Banks's remake of Charlie's Angels.

A planned screening of "Wildes Herz", the documentary about the punk band Feine Sahne Fischfilet, had to be cancelled due to massive threats. The film was to be shown as part of the Schleswig-Holstein School Cinema Weeks in Bad Schwartau.

In the last session of the year, the Filmwerkstatt Kiel travelled around the world: the Committee funded 14 projects with a total of around 93,000 euros, including a road movie in Cambodia, an animated film in the Wadden Sea and a documentary in Iceland.

The German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Istanbul Film Festival - Meetings on the Bridge, supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture, met for a funding session during the 26th Filmfest Hamburg.

Time for Documentaries: The 61st edition of Dok Leipzig will take place from 29 October to 4 November. Seven films funded by the FFHSH will be shown this year. They include "The Symphony of Uncertainty" by Claudia Lehmann and "The Donkey's Name was Geronimo" by Arjun Talwar and Bigna Tomschin.

With Margarethe von Trotta's documentary "In Search of Ingmar Bergman" and the drama "Sibel", two FFHSH-funded films are on the list for the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival. Von Trotta's Ingmar Bergman homage has already celebrated its premiere in Cannes, while the international co-production "Sibel" was recently honoured with three awards at the Locarno Festival.

The Senator for Culture and Media, Dr Carsten Brosda, presented the Hamburg Cinema Awards for the 2017 programme year to 13 Hamburg arthouse and district cinemas at the Studio Kino on Friday evening. The prizes, worth a total of 100,000 euros, are awarded annually by the Ministry of Culture and Media together with Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.

Filmfest Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein is represented at this year's Munich Film Festival with four subsidised productions - including Jakob Lass' Reeperbahn film "So Was Von Da" and Margarethe von Trotta's "In Search of Ingmar Bergman". Both films were produced by the Hamburg-based company C-Films (Germany). The film festival will take place in the Bavarian capital from 28 June to 7 July 2018.

90 VR goggles, three locations and lots of fibre optic cables: last Tuesday saw the first tri-national virtual reality conference, VR CONNECT, take place in Malmö, Aarhus and Hamburg, where participants were able to immerse themselves in virtual worlds at the same time.

Maria Köpf, CEO of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein GmbH (FFHSH) since 2016, has informed the company's Supervisory Board that she will not be extending her contract beyond 31 March 2019. The position of CEO will be advertised shortly.

Silent fathers, knights chatting in Low German and North German society in transition: at its first meeting of the year, Filmwerkstatt Kiel awarded funding totalling 110,000 euros to 17 projects. A total of 44,000 euros will also be made available for seven North German festivals.

At its latest meeting, Committee 2 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded more than 400,000 euros to 16 projects. The films deal with Tourette's centres in Lübeck, Italian hotel castles and Istanbul love dramas.

A call for young documentary filmmakers from Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein: Until 9 April, the Screen Talent Europe network is looking for Directors, Executive Producers or Editors between the ages of 18 and 30 who would like to take part in an international documentary camp in Lofoten, Norway, from 5 to 19 July 2018. .

On 13 April, Hamburg filmmaker Pia Lenz will be awarded the Grimme Prize for her documentary "Alles gut - Ankommen in Deutschland". The film on the subject of "Integration" beat off the competition in the "Information & Culture" category at the 54th Grimme Prize 2018.

The Hamburg Producer Award is endowed with a total of 75,000 euros for the first time in 2018 and will be awarded in three categories as part of Filmfest Hamburg in future.

A total of 17 projects received around 450,000 euros in funding from Committee 2 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein at the first meeting of the new year. These include the tragicomedy "Ohne Netz" about fear, the incredible story of Hamburg motorbike archaeologist Uwe Ehinger in "Jetzt ist später/Rusty Diamonds" and the Bulgarian co-production "Not Angry Anymore".

With around 1,000 guests from the worlds of film and TV, culture and politics, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein celebrated its traditional annual kick-off at Kampnagel on Wednesday evening. Among the guests: Directors Fatih Akin and Emily Atef and actors Moritz Bleibtreu and Til Schweiger.

The FFHSH is entering the 39th Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival with a total of ten funded productions, including the feature film debut "Draußen in meinem Kopf" by Hamburg native Eibe Maleen Krebs, the adult fairy tale "Axel der Held" by Director Hendrik Hölzemann and the mystery thriller "Jenseits des Spiegels" by Nils Loof.

Glamorous start to 2018: Fatih Akin has won the Golden Globe in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category with his Hamburg thriller "Into the Fate". The Golden Globes are regarded as the most important barometer for the Oscars.

Good news: NDR, FFHSH and nordmedia have tweaked the joint young talent programme NORDLICHTER and improved a few points. For example, Norddeutscher Rundfunk has increased its participation per project to up to 350,000 euros (gross) and the exploitation rights of the Executive Producers have been extended.

Great news from Hollywood: Fatih Akin's latest film "Into the Fate" with Diane Kruger was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category "Best Foreign Language Film" on Monday.

On 21 November, Fatih Akin's new NSU thriller "Into the Fate" had its premiere in Hamburg. The film, which will be in the running for the Oscar for Germany next year and has already caused a storm of enthusiasm in Cannes, was also celebrated by the Hamburg audience.

The partnership between NDR and Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH) has existed for 20 years. On 18 October 2017, Committee 2 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein awarded around 550,000 euros to a total of 23 projects, including a documentary about the G20 days in Hamburg and the return of a queer film classic.

A total of 30 FFHSH-funded productions are on the festival calendar of the 59th Nordic Film Days Lübeck from 1 to 5 November 2017. These include "Es war einmal Indianerland" by İlker Çatak and "Wildes Herz" by actor Charly Hübner and Sebastian Schultz.

In 2011, the FFHSH launched the "Green Shooting Card", a seal of quality for environmentally conscious filming. To mark its 100th anniversary, the Green Shooting Card has now been awarded to the crime thriller film "Sauerkrautkoma", which is currently being produced in Bavaria.

The South African drama "The Wound" is the second FFHSH-funded production to be nominated for an Oscar, alongside Fatih Akin's "Into the Fate".

The FFHSH is celebrating its 10th anniversary, time to take stock: How is the film and media industry doing in the far north?

Minister of Culture Anke Spoorendonk presented the Schleswig-Holstein Cinema Prize at the Husum Cinema Centre. By increasing the prize money by 15,000 euros, the cinemas were able to receive a total of 42,500 euros this year.

The North presented itself from its best side at the Croisette. Diane Kruger was named best actress in a leading role for her performance in Fatih Akin's NSU thriller, while Mohammad Rasoulof won the main prize in the "Un Certain Regard" section.

Two exceptional artists are at the centre of the new funding round: Committee 2 of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein has awarded around 600,000 euros to a total of 24 projects.

In the Semaine de la Critique series, the animated film Tehran Taboo by Ali Soozandeh is on the programme of the Cannes Film Festival - the third film with FFHSH participation on the Croisette.

The 14th Hamburg Documentary Film Week will take place from 19 to 23 April. Four subsidised productions will also be presented in the Dokland Hamburg section.

From April, Claudia Hartmann will join the FFHSH team as the new Head of Communications & Press and Jan Asmus as the new Head of Administration.

Three FFHSH-funded films have been nominated in nine categories for the 2017 German Film Awards, the German Film Academy has announced. The LOLA will be awarded in Berlin on 28 April.

With immediate effect, Script Writers can apply for funding to develop a treatment. The maximum funding amount is 10,000 euros and is awarded as a grant.
