Hamburg-based Directors Monika Treut ("Genderation"), cinema operator Wiebke Thomsen (Kino im Künstlerhaus, Hanover) and Zeit journalist Oskar Piegsa have decided on this year's Hamburg Cinema Awards. The three industry experts form the current cinema award jury.

This year, a total of 16 cinemas and initiatives were honoured:

• Abaton Kino, Rotherbaum: 11,000 euros

• Zeise Kinos, Ottensen: 11,000 euros

• Alabama Kino, Winterhude: 8,000 euros

• B-Movie, St. Pauli: 8,000 euros

• Koralle Kino, Volksdorf: 8,000 euros

• Studio-Kino, Altona-Altstadt: 8,000 euros

• Blankeneser Kino, Blankenese: 5,000 euros

• Elbe Filmtheater, Osdorf: 5.000 euros

• FilmRaum, Eimsbüttel: 5,000 euros

• Magazin Filmkunsttheater, Winterhude: 5,000 euros

• Passage Kino, Altstadt: 5,000 euros

• Savoy Filmtheater, St. Georg: 5,000 euros

• Lichtmeß-Kino, Ottensen: 3,000 euros

• Schanzenkino 73, Sternschanze: 2,000 euros

• Special prize "A Wall is a Screen": 2,000 euros

About the Hamburg cinema awards:

The Hamburg Cinema Awards are presented annually by the Ministry of Culture and Media together with MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein. Hamburg's arthouse and district cinemas as well as initiatives are honoured for the previous programme year.
