With Sandra Hüller and İlker Çatak in the competition
20.01.2026 | 7x MOIN at the Berlinale 2026

The North is strongly represented in the capital this year: no fewer than seven MOIN-funded films have made it into the official programme of the 76th Berlinale from 12 to 22 February 2026. With the drama "Yellow Letters" by Oscar-nominated filmmaker İlker Çatak, which was shot in Hamburg, and "Rose" with leading actress Sandra Hüller, two funded films can be seen in the Competition.
Helge Albers, CEO of MOIN Film Fund: "Seven North German productions at the Berlinale - a great start to the new film year! The opening film "No Good Men" has a lot of Hanseatic city in it: Afghan filmmaker Shahrbanoo Sadat lives in Hamburg and has filmed in Wilhelmsburg, among other places. İlker Çatak also realised a large part of his drama "Yellow Letters" in Hamburg, which can be seen this year in the Berlinale Competition together with "Rose" by Director Markus Schleinzer, which also received funding. I'm particularly excited about the debut film "Der Heimatlose" by Kai Stänicke, who was able to unite an impressive cast behind an extraordinary project with Emilia Schüle, Aaron Hilmer and Jeanette Hain and shot the majority of the film in Schleswig-Holstein. It is harvest time for the Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein film region, not least thanks to a reliable film policy. We are keeping our fingers crossed for all the film teams - have a great Berlinale!"
