Kiel-Holtenau
The 20m high circular clinker tower (1895) is not only a historical monument, but also today it is still guarding boats the way through the Kiel Canal with its bonfire. At the end of the Kiel Cannel is a small park. It has been created upon the excavation material of the Canal which was piled up in front of the original bank. From this point one can see the fjord up to the output in the Baltic Sea as well as the Watergate with its incoming and outgoing boats. The octagonal subbase of the tower is used as a wedding room.
